Shandong's first trans-yellow tram is scheduled to open to traffic in December next year, which is an important rail transit line connecting the central city of Jinan with Jiyang District and the starting area

Recently, the construction of the Jiyang section of the new Jinan urban tram project to Jiyang District (starting area) has progressed in an orderly manner. Some media learned from the authorities that the project is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic in December next year.

The Jiyang Tram project is the first tram in Jinan and the first tram across the Yellow River in Shandong Province. Tram passes through Licheng District, starting area and Jiyang District, which is an important rail transit line connecting Jinan central city with Jiyang District and starting area.

The project line starts from Jinan East Railway Station, runs along Fenghuang Road, Huanghe Avenue, G220, Guangming Street, Zheng 'an Road, and ends at Jiyang North Railway Station, with a total length of about 36.1 kilometers. There are 16 stations on the whole line, including 1 ground station, 4 elevated stations and 11 underground stations. Maximum operating speed 70km/h.

Liu Jinghai, head of the traffic service department of the highway development center of Jiyang District, introduced that the total length of the tram Jiyang City section is 10.3 kilometers, including 6.74 kilometers underground shallow trough section of Zhengan Road, 3.56 kilometers ground section of Guangming Street, 4 underground stations and 3 ground stations. At present, the construction of 5.5 km underground shallow trough section, the main structure of four underground stations and 0.5 km ground section has been completed, and the overall project is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic in December 2024.

As an important transportation infrastructure for Jinan to support "north rise" and "carry the river development", Jiyang Tram will fill the gap of Jinan's medium and low volume rail transit and further improve the quality of public transportation in the new urban area on the north bank of the Yellow River.

Unlike the subway, the tram system is mainly laid on the ground, and the cost is lower. Jiyang trams make full use of Jinan Huanghe Phoenix Bridge, Huanghe Avenue Phase I project, Jiyang District municipal facilities renovation project and other reserved rail transit space and underpass for laying, to meet the travel needs of citizens, while avoiding repeated investment.

In addition to the Jiyang tram project, Jinan City also plans to build a rail transit network to strengthen the connection between the main urban area and the starting area, introduce urban railways and urban rail lines, connect important nodes and hubs, and commute with the main urban area in less than 40 minutes, 50 minutes to the main node of the urban area, and 60 minutes to the main town of Jinan metropolitan area.

In addition, in the "meter-shaped" high-speed rail network of Jinan comprehensive transportation planning, it is planned to build a new Jinan North railway Station in the starting area, which is the hub station with Jinan West Railway Station, Jinan Railway Station and Jinan East Railway Station, and build a northern gateway of regional fast connection and provincial radiation.
